Legacy Players

The Legacy Players of The Western Stage is a group of twelve veteran senior actors from Monterey County with over five centuries of theater experience who offer unique performances that illuminate and enrich the lives of our community.

The Legacy Players of The Western Stage will present a reading of four intriguing and new one-act plays by local playwrights. This is the second presentation of new plays by the group this year. The Legacy Players of The Western Stage is a group of 12 veteran senior actors from Monterey County with over five centuries of theater experience, who offer unique performances that illuminate and enrich the lives in our community.

The readings will be presented Saturday, August 20, and Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Hartnell College’s intimate Studio Theater at 411 Central Ave., Salinas, California. Admission is free, but donations are happily accepted.

The four plays that will be read are:

The Gift by Terry Kingsley-Smith It is San Francisco in the 1980s when the AIDS epidemic was devastating the gay community. John’s partner of many years, Michael has just passed away. Michael’s estranged mother visits John in a sympathetic attempt to understand the way her son lived and died.

Breakfast at Nudleman’s by Harvey Landa A 90-year-old gentleman is uncomfortable when he reluctantly becomes the friend of a 23-year-old, uninhibited young woman.

Pro Choice by Philip Pearce What do you do when your favorite TV hero is about to be killed off but you are still holding the remote?

The Man in the Goodwill Coat by Philip Pearce Sanjay falls for Dede near the men’s coat rack at Goodwill. She seems to go for him, too—or is it just his second-hand coat that turns her on? Reading these four one–acts will be Rita Caratello, Mary Clever, Terry Durney, Philip Pearce, Lynn Pearlman and Michael Robbins.
