Coming up: 2014 Spring School Matinee
Each spring The Western Stage presents a special student matinee performance in order to introduce local students to Hartnell College and Theatre Arts. Titles such as The Pearl, The Outsiders, The Spirit of Hispania, ¡Bocon!, and Luna, are chosen because of their literary connection or because the protagonist is a youth making difficult decisions.
Approximately 500-700 students and teachers attend student matinees annually.
For more information on matinees, please contact our Youth Outreach Coordinator at (831) 770-6123.
Recognizing that many schools are unable to provide their students transportation to Hartnell College, TWS takes a touring show into the classroom and teaching artists offer short introductory workshops on site.
TWS teams perform for over 600 youth annually and bookings include the YMCA, Salinas Libraries and the Alisal, Salinas City, and San Benancio School Districts.
TWS offers workshops to teachers, individual classes, schools and service groups. All workshops are created in accordance with the California State Visual and Performing Arts Framework guidelines.
