CLASSES & WORKSHOPS There are many opportunities to get involved at The Western Stage, whether you’re a young person (or not) just getting started, a student, or a veteran of the stage! Start with our Theatre Technique and Core Classes. The Western Stage & Hartnell College Theatre Arts Department THEATRE TECHNIQUE AND CORE CLASSES Students may self-enroll for any of these sections through www.hartnell.edu or on campus at Hartnell’s Admissions and Records Office
Hartnell students are developing an original performance and documentary film that looks closely at the local and regional aspects of the drought in the Salinas Valley, a unique region given its rich history and tremendous impact on global food production.
Students and partners from the Hartnell Theatre/Cinema, Art, Ethnic Studies and Sociology programs are engaging in community dialogues and youth performances and film workshops. The group has been performing locally and at the Midtown International Theatre festival in New York, NY.
Further performance outreach efforts are being directed at local schools and community arts organizations. We will distribute 100 DVD’s of the documentary to local schools and community arts centers, with the potential to impact 1,000’s of individuals.
This project & performance are being made possible through the support of: California Water, the Monterey County Arts Council, the Hartnell College Foundation, Federal Perkins Funding, the Hartnell College Professional Development Committee and Faculty Innovation Grant, and through individual contributions.
